Jim Jefferies: Fully Functional (DVD)

“Window gets an arm rest and a wall, middle gets two arm rests. Aisle gets an arm rest and a little bit of extra leg.”

Jim Jefferies (Legit) is a very distinctive comedian. His set consists of stories whose purpose is to make you feel a bit stupid for having whatever belief Jefferies is deriding. That can be funny, but there are some things you’ll have to get used to.

For starters he uses the C-word with abandon, and it’s for shock value rather than a genuine fit for the material, which includes airplane etiquette, gay people, God, and doing drugs. The other issue is the sheer amount of time it takes him to get to the punchline. For a show with less than an hour of material, Jim Jefferies: Fully Functional feels a lot longer.

Neither the Dolby 2.0 Stereo track nor the 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer are anything special. The audio is simple and the video has a bit of grain, but there are no technical issues or palette disturbances. Both are in keeping with similar broadcast comedy specials. There are no bonus features.

Jefferies isn’t my type of comedian, but if you enjoy shock comedy you may very well find Jim Jefferies: Fully Functional right up your alley.

THE VERDICT

Guilty of not capturing my attention.
